We usually see that the power of the electric vehicle like electric motorcycle and ebike is getting less and less even if it is not in use. What is the problem there? There are mainly two reasons as follow.
Firstly, there is a kind of self-discharge phenomenon inside the battery. That is to say, the power of the battery can still be getting less and less even if there is no any device or appliance in use connected. This is because that there are some impurities and deposits in the electrolyte of the battery, which leads to part of power consumption and losses when the internal circulation of the battery is in progress.
Secondly, there are still other devices connected to the battery that can cause energy consumption besides the self-discharging of the battery itself. For example, there are still the remote control and alarm systems, and so on. They can lead to about 6 to 8 mA discharging current. Let’s take a 48V 12Ah battery as an example, and if the discharging current of the alarm is 8 mA, the alarm will consume about 0.0092 Kwh each day. Thus, the battery will be exhausted within 60 days even if the electric motorcycle or electric bike is not in use.
Therefore, in order to keep the battery in a good working status and prolong its’ lifetime as much as possible, we highly recommended that users should use the electric vehicle regularly, especially do not place it in a place and let them to be not in use for a long time. If there is a long time trip or journey outside the location you are living, just let your friends or family members use the electric motorcycle or electric bicycle instead regularly to avoid the power of battery to be exhausted and keep the battery in a good condition always.
